Java Long - equals() Method

The java.lang.Long.equals() method is used to compare this object to the specified object. The result is true if and only if the argument is not null and is a Long object that contains the same long value as this object.

Syntax

public boolean equals(Object obj)

Parameters

obj Specify the object to compare with.

Return Value

Returns true if the objects are the same; false otherwise.

Exception

NA.

Example:

In the example below, the java.lang.Long.equals() method is used to compare given Long objects for equality.

public class MyClass {
  public static void main(String[] args) {
    
    //creating Long objects
    Long val1 = 5l;
    Long val2 = 5l;
    Long val3 = -5l;

    //checking Long objects for equality
